Riverwalk

New Construction Along the Catawba River

Riverwalk is one of the largest master-planned communities in the Rock Hill area, roughly 1,000 acres unfolding along the Catawba River off Mount Gallant and Celanese Roads, about 25 minutes south of uptown Charlotte via I-77. At build-out it's planned for around 850 single-family homes, 250 townhomes, and 550 apartment homes from a mix of builders, all stitched together by miles of paved and natural-surface trails that lead straight to the water.

What sets Riverwalk apart from a typical new-construction subdivision is the Rock Hill Outdoor Center, a 250-acre riverfront recreation complex inside the community that includes the Giordana Velodrome for track cycling, a BMX supercross track, and a criterium course, drawing riders from across the region. Residents also get a riverfront park with a canoe and kayak launch, a YMCA, and a growing River District town center bringing in restaurants, retail, and entertainment along the Catawba's shoreline.

Rock Hill Schools has said it plans a new, larger elementary school to serve growth in the Riverwalk/Celanese Road area, which could shift attendance lines over time. Confirm zoned schools for your exact address through Rock Hill Schools' own Find My School tool (rock-hill.k12.sc.us/families/find-my-school) before you buy.

HOA & Community Amenities

Riverwalk is governed by the Riverwalk Master Association, with dues billed quarterly and additional section-level sub-associations covering specific product types (single-family, townhome, and apartment sections each have their own assessments). Today's shared amenities center on the trail network, riverfront park and canoe/kayak launch, and access to the Rock Hill Outdoor Center's cycling and BMX venues, with a YMCA also on-site.

Because Riverwalk is still building out, some sections' amenities, including additional pools and a dedicated clubhouse, have been described by the developer as planned or in progress rather than complete, and dues and included amenities can vary meaningfully from one section or builder to the next. Confirm current dues, which sub-association covers a specific address, and the status of any promised-but-not-yet-built amenities before making decisions.

Location & Lifestyle

Riverwalk sits off Mount Gallant Road and Celanese Road on the Catawba River side of Rock Hill, South Carolina (29730), in York County. The community's own River District is bringing restaurants, retail, and entertainment to a 2.5-mile stretch of riverfront, and the Rock Hill Outdoor Center's velodrome, BMX track, and the Piedmont Medical Center Trail all sit inside Riverwalk, giving residents a genuine recreation hub without leaving the neighborhood.

Uptown Charlotte is roughly 25 minutes north via I-77, downtown Rock Hill's own shops and restaurants are about 10 minutes away, and Fort Mill's Carowinds Boulevard retail corridor is around 20 minutes east. Charlotte Douglas International Airport is about 35 to 40 minutes away depending on traffic.
